BEEKEEPING COURSES AT PLUMPTON COLLEGE

An introduction to Beekeeping Theory Course at Plumpton College or Stanmer Park.  This ten week course is designed for those who want to develop their beekeeping skills.  The course will provide all the help you need to work confidently with a full colony and manage them successfully during the beekeeping year.  Topics include:  Bee Colonies, Types of Hives, Bee Plants and Forage, Swarm Control, Pest and Diseases including Varroa etc.  Duration: 1 afternoon per week at Stanmer Park or 1 evening per week at Plumpton College main site for 10 weeks.  Start date TBC contact Plumpton College, Ditchling Road, Plumpton, Nr. INTERMEDIATE BEEKEEPING SKILLS COURSE AT PLUMPTON COLLEGE ONE YEAR COURSE APPROX

This course is aimed at beekeepers that have some experience in beekeeping and want to keep up to date. The course is also an excellent way to improve hive management skills without acquiring a formal qualification.  This series of theory and practical evenings looks at all aspects of managing a honey bee colony through the year including transfer to new comb, making nucs, queen rearing, artificial swarming, uniting and moving colonies, also inspecting for diseases, honey production, extraction and bottling, feeding and apiary records.  Course 30 sessions.   Evenings from 6.30 pm until 9.30 pm including practical sessions at the hives.
