Raised beds

The Question

John Bishop asked:

Hi just found this site, been on the “Camp Site” in Portslade for some 18 years, would like to try Raised Beds next year any good advise?

The Answer

Hi

We’ve been using raised beds for a while. For us, one of the advantages is that you have a number of defined areas to tend. Ours are about 1.2 x 0.6 metres, and we have a dozen on a half plot. Not only is it less daunting to face digging a finite raised bed than facing all your allotment, but it makes crop rotation easier. Use old scaffold boards, if you can get them, or fairly cheap gravel boards.

Good gardening.
